Stop-or-Reload Button can save some space in Firefox

Stop-or-Reload Button is a firefox extension that merges the reload and stop button. This is very useful since a single button will function as two saving you some space, available for windows.

Get it at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/313

Most extensions don`t, Hopefully when Firefox`s 3 final version is finally released people will start porting their extensions.

I would port it if i were any good with programming....

I have been using it and it works fine for Firefox betas 3 thru 5 and RC1, *but* you have to overide Firefox's maximum version compatibility checking, at least until the add-on developer bumps the max version of their add-on.

I know of three ways:

1) use MR Tech Toolkit add-on to disable Firefox's add-on compatibility checking (this is my chosen method).

2) use Nightly Tester Tools add-on to force 'incompatible' extension to install.

3) edit the add-on's source code (the add-on's xpi file is actually a zip file and when renamed can be opened with your fave compressed file tool) to 'bump' the max version - how-to details are published in a number of places on line, try googling for them

However, YMMV and as stated by the developer of the Nightly Testing Tools:
_______
Oxymoronical » Nightly Tester Tools
http://www.oxymoronical.com/web/firefox/nightly

"Don’t forget that forcing an incompatible extension to install is risky. There are many cases where Firefox will stop working completely or behave incorrectly because an incompatible extension is being forced to work where the author never intended."
_______

Personally, I've had pretty good luck 'forcing' extensions to work *most* of the time, but you might want to backup your Firefox install, use a 2nd instance of a portable (no-install) version of Firefox for testing purposes so as not to break your regular Firefox install, and/or check out how how to start Firefox in 'safe mode' :

Safe Mode

in case problems do occur after forcing an extension.

Gerry

I am not the developer so i can`t upgrade it, i also can`t code so i can`t make it compatible with FF3. But there was a way that you could use FF2 extensions in FF3 but i don`t remember how right now. Look it up in google.

Cheers.
